JADE LIVING ROOM
In my reimagining of this living room, we took inspiration from a childhood favorite movie, The Little Princess. If you have ever seen it, the color green might come to mind, which is how we landed on jade green paint for the walls and a glossy dark evergreen for the trim and cabinetry. Taking inspiration from the old world decor of the film, we covered the floor with antique patterned rugs and filled the bookshelves with vintage and antique objects. I removed the glass doors from the bookshelves to invite the eye to the books within them and to leave them more accessible. Because The Little Princess takes place in a victorian era home and we were decorating a traditional craftsman space it was important to me that the interpretation did not become too literal. To ensure the space would feel cohesive we furnished the room with a citrine velvet sectional, adding a 70s bohemian twist that would compliment the mid century style brick fireplace with brass accents. For finishing touches we filled the room with living plants and art and replaced the ceiling fan with a vintage 70's light fixture. The room was transformed entirely.
